texts from bennett

Bloggers please check out this blog it is by far the funniest thing I have ever read, you will not regret it!

On the blog Texts From Bennett. Bennett is a “17 year old who thinks he’s a Crip, works at Amoco, has a girlfriend named Mercedes, and is one of the most unintentionally funny and brilliant souls on the planet."

This blog has gone viral in a matter of days and hopefully it will continue even though the hipster population has caught wind of it. Bennett and wiggas forever.

gyroscopic

image: tonynelsonakabf@thefactory

The other week I went to see Gyroscope pretty much the best and most longstanding Australian band for my generation. I think this is due to three reasons;
1. My boyfriend would kill me if I said otherwise
2. They have kept my attention over more than three albums
3. I have seen them perform live over three times and they still impress the pants off me (take that pun as you will)

The show was held in Marrickville at a place called "The Factory Theatre", I had never heard of this venue which I can assure you is a huge rarity... It was an incredible humid Saturday night and after trekking a train and bus feeling less than glamourous, I arrived at what looked exactly like a warehouse factory. Walking into the outside area surrounded by the cool kids smoking their lungs out and the underage Raben wearing kids I walked into what seemed to look like a Mexican families backyard with a makeshift aluminium bar. With random seating and the most relaxed vibe I was thrilled when I discovered my most coveted drink of choice Bulmers Cider was on the menu. Unfortunately due to a trip tot the nearby petrol station to get cashola out I missed on that and resorted to drinking... it's really hard for me to say... Breezers, pink grapefruit Bacardi Breezers. Not only is this incredibly embarrassing I honestly couldn't understand how at the age of 16 I could guzzle 4 of those hideously sugary drinks.

Anyway I proceeded to head inside and witnessed magic. Yep pure fucking magic. Never fail to amaze Gyrosope were awesome with the set list mixing both from their latest album "Cohesion" and the oldies. High energy with a twist on Midnight Oil's "Beds Are Burning" and the show was over. It surprised me that there was no encore but those boys certainly know how to keep you wanting more. If you haven't already go buy "Cohesion"better yet get yo' ass off the couch and buy some ticket to their next show. You will not regret it. Guaranteed enjoyment or your money back!

*Obviously I would not reimburse your tickets to a Gyroscope show if you don't enjoy it because if you feel that way you're a douche and should stop your relationship with Why I Can't Be You and me!

colour, rain over me

images: kevinmurphy.com

Okay so as you all are aware from previous posts and the infamous Lauren Conrad picture as seen above dip dye coloured tips are in. This is trend could be a little scary to fully commit too but the fabulous Kevin Murphy Colour Bug has made this a possible and non permanent. I'm sure you're all wonder what this illusive "Colour Bug" is. It is in fact the coolest little baby which you can pick up for $24.95! It is literally a pod of colour almost like a chalk paste which is wipe on, wipe off colour. Which lasts until you wash out your hair. Available in purple (as shown above), pink and orange and suitable for both fair and dark hair.

As Mr Murphy demonstrates on his videoblog he puts a towel over the models shoulders, and spray her hair with a styling spray this will act as a base for the Colour Bug to stick to your hair. Spray your ends or wherever you'd like the colour to go and then take the Colour Bug and start to rub your strands with the colour. You will see an instant effect of colour and the more you put on the more intense the colour gets. The Colour Bug not only colours your hair but gives it a raw texture and body. I am yet to try this but I hope to this weekend. I could never commit to a bright dye job not only due to my eternal love for chocolate hair but also in terms of work purposes I somehow think it wouldn't go down that well with the boss. So until I either go all our grunge and rebellious there is Colour Bug.

Watch here for the video and genius at work and see the results on a variety of hair colours and shapes.

we found love in a hopeless place

video: youtube

Obsessing over Calvin Harris of late being a non Rihanna fan I was so surprised at how much I love this song and film clip. One of the best film clips of the year which obviously is a direct reflection of Rihanna and Chris Brown's life (being in marketing it is a great sell)... I love the imagery of a tumultuous relationship, it provokes the thought of whether we can survive in a couple regardless of the bad because the good is so good?

winter's over

images: google, weheartit, theyallhateus

As much as I love summer I will miss one thing about Winter, tea. I am an avid tea drinker and although you can technically drink tea in summer there is something I find so soothing on a cold winter day wrapped in a merino wool cardi and scarf curled on the couch with my favourite bowl sized mug of tea. Now my favourite, Madame Flavour is for sure a winner, the green tea with pear and the spicy chai are heavenly and you can get these loose leaf pyramid tea bags from Woolies. The worst thing about find a good tea is not being able to find it or buy it from a readily available place! T2, the Tea Centre and all of those speciali-tea (see what I did there) places are great you can't just duck down to the shops and get it - but maybe thats just showing my obession and tea-orexic mentality. Can you have an overdose on tea problem? Either way this activity is going to be something that I will miss doing in the Winter chill...
