holllllla

I have a tendancy to be referred to as "black" my my friends which of course is neither true nor politically correct but nevertheless I do showcase my rapping and crumping on occasion (these occasions are usually fuelled by a few to many cocktails or champagne). It has been a thing that has followed me around for years and I love it. "Ghetto love" was a thing that I gave out to my adoring (or so I thought) "fans" i.e the average white person hug. It is stupid to think a girl from upper middle class gorwing up in the burb of Beecroft could have even a slight amount of street cred but I am more than happy to claim this. probably not good for the rap industry and community but hey they have appealed to the masses.

At the moment I am crushing hardcore on Miss Nicki Minaj/Roman/Martha/Onika or any other later-egos I have missed. Adore her and her crazy get ups and of course that behind, much more impressive than any Kardashian. She is everything I cannot be but secretly hope I will be. Her album Pink Friday is on repeat throughout this week on my 90's boom box along with my gold name earrings. Get cha swagga on.

*Note I am sorry for my lame attempt at rap talk but at least you  haven't seen my horrendous version of Superbass circa May 2011.

monday music mix

video: youtube

I'm loving neigh adoring Gotye's album Making Mirrors. This is a definite favourite with its catchy acoustic guitar solo and clapping rythmn I'm hooked and sunk into a world of beautiful sounds. I love me a brass section that is so surprising in a song that is so simple at first glance. Plus anything that can put me in a half decent mood pre coffee on a Monday morning gets some cudos.

bargin buy

image: polyvore

I literally have been obsessing over these babies for about a year but at $500 a pop I was ummming and ahhhhing forever. Just when I ceased my yerning on Saturday I went into Mimco and actually stopped in the sale section. Okay followers I am not a snob but I'm not a typical "on sale" kind of gal hence the slight credit card debt I find myself in. Anyway I look over at the messy sale section trifled with vultures attching every shoe box they can see and out the corner of my eye I spy a black  heeled boot. It was like the heavens opened up and angeles sung because I found the last pair in my size in the black for WAIT FOR IT $79!!! I literally squealed like a pre-teen Bieber fan and shook my boyfriend uncontrollably with excitement. What are the odds? So although spring is here and summer soon I could not not buy them, that would be insanity. Now they are sitting on my feet never to be taken off, I will never underestimate the sales section ever again!

a maxi event

Anyone who knows me knows I am an avid maybe.... addict? to THE MAXI SKIRT. If I had it my way I would wear one everyday of the year and would never, ever get sick of it! I love prints, brights, blacks, sheer, frou-frou, pastel, neutral, pleated and every other form they come in. A versatile, flattering and inexpensive way to look fabulous and spesh.

I feel that the maxi skirt is appropriate for all occasions.Weddings, nightclubs, summer days, winter nights, casual, date night, girls drinks, parental and gran-parental visits, shopping, walking aimlessly around the city, beach hangs, coffee dates, birthday parties and any other thing you can think of. Go forth and be chic ladies!
