the not so red carpet

So after treking through the countless pictures of this years Emmy Awards can I just say what a disappointment! No risk takers, too much red and poor hair styling choices....

Thank sweet baby Jesus that there were two knockouts dark horse Evan Rachel Wood coming off her lastest role as Queen Sophie-Anne on True Blood an absolute favourite of mine. And of course the beautifully bold Julia Stiles from her re-occuring guest role in Dexter yet another brilliant show. See the reoccuring thematics?

Why is it that this year there was hardly any sole that took a risk the most risk taker there was Gwyneth Paltrow in her mid baring lace crop a la 1990's combo by Emilio Pucci? Which I kind of like but definitely not appropriate for awards season! I'm all for a little risk and bare skin and thus a f u to the authority but really Gwyn, keep it covered. On that note Ms Hendricks we get it, you have a massive rack no need to remind us continually...

All in all I'm throughly disappointed, especially in those Glee girls BORING BORING BORING there so young and attractive and one in particular Miss Diana decides to strangle herself in an ill fitting purpley/blue shiny satin which is reminiscent of those hideous "Hart" dresses that were prevelant throughout year 10 formal time...
C'mon celeb's girls all around the world want to see some FASH-ion so bring it!!!

"obviously, doctor", she said, "you've never been a thirteen-year-old girl"

The Virgin Suicides does not need much said about it except for the fact that it is a brilliant novel turned into an even better movie by the hands of Sofia Coppola this is seriously hautingly beautiful. My eternal love for the 1970's, records, lace and a damaged woman holding a cigarette were pictured throughout. And although
many say Kirsten Dunst stole the show as Lux, Hanna Rose Hall as Celicia is ridiculously creepy and fragile. Love is not enough even if you're Trip Fontaine.

sparkadia

So friends tonight I will be attending Sparkadia at the Metro in ole Sydney town. Having freshly seen them at Splendour I was so impressed a ticket had to be bought for a solo show. Last show was a mix of indie-heavenly-cruisey-chime-ridden-swayingly-awesome tunes. Definitely one of my favourite Australian bands around. Although all founding members have flown the coop for the latest album "The Greatest Impression" frontman Alex Burnett is still strongly present and has updated the sound from their "Postcards" album into a more diverse range using a varied appropach for each song. "Mary" is a soulful love song which clearly a crowd and a personal favourite of mine. The dymanic of having a gospel style tune sung by an indie white boy with a great guitar riff throughout and catchy drums is something great within the Australian music scene.

Support our local music and buy "The Greatest Impression" out now!

always remember
